Influenza and Inspiration
Posted on September 30, 2009 - 9:53pm
On Monday I found out I was infected with the influenza virus, type A or B (not the dreaded swine flu). While this bug killed a staggering number of people in the early 20th century - I'm too ill and lazy to check the year - I am not likely to die from it, but rather to lie in bed day after day in a stuporous fog of fever and aches, wishing I was dead or could at least sleep till it was over. Who gets the flu in September??
Anyway I am too sick to knit for the first time in at least a year. I wanted to apologize to my two readers (hi Mom! Hi Ben!) for the lack of semi-interesting content as I did promise myself I would update this thing on a regular basis. But anyway my fever this evening has dropped below 101 so I must be on the mend. Once I feel like myself I will be knitting like a fiend to complete my sister-in-law's birthday sweater, and then it's on to the new design I've dreamed up while lying like a corpse in the bed, my Aurora sweater, inspired by my friend Sarah Moore's elegant, sylphlike shape and the Disney film Sleeping Beauty. Aurora will be a square necked garment with bust darts and a long fitted sleeve with a flared wrist, blooming into a puffed sleeve at the upper arm and shoulder. Don't hold your breath waiting for it though, all I have right now is a sketch and an order to eatsleepknit.com for the yarn.
More later when I feel like a human being again.

And sadly, lots of people do... (but at least you don't have the swine flu!)
